Windsurfing: Felixstowe-Dip Wind Direction: S Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: smooth and chop Air Temperature: 19 Sea Temperature: 16.5 Weather: sun and cloud Max Speed: 25.2 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 39.1 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Took the afternoon off work which was a lucky choice as sailing was superb
at time. Rog and Paul out on 5 and 5.4m so rigged 5.2m as did Phil which
was nice for about an hour and sea near Golf was great with some rolling
waves. After tide had turned it got messy so returned to sail off the Dip.
Some great rides in and a few little jumps. Some dark cloud killed the wind
but when it returned it was stronger than ever so changed down to 4.7m then
had to flatten that off some. Should have changed down earlier as much
easier with 4.7m with some nice gybes on the outside off swells. A few more
turned up to enjoy last wind for a while until wind died early evening but
all made it back safe on small sails.
I wanted to end with a high and gybe on the inside then outside and back
in, but kept falling in. Persevered after about five dumpings until I got
it ; it all goes to pot when you're tired.
Sea got quite choppy but some smoother bits if you hunted them out. Felt
like I was really basting but only got 25.2 knots; I guess lumpy sea gives
the illusion of speed as you clatter along.
